Painted following artist residencies to Baffin Island and Arctic Norway that enabled the artist to research and observe first hand arctic imagery.  The relationships between animals, nature, people and the surrounding landscape is of particular fascination depicting a reverence for life that survives and thrives in the arctic. The husky is depicted the protector of the arctic, alert, playful alongside the quiet long lived Bowhead whale who is living a peaceful harmonious existence under the arctic ice floe.
